James Parker Dietz, 87, former resident of Skaneateles, died peacefully in Durham, N.C., on June 20, 2013 from complications of heart disease. James was born in Mill Hall, PA, was a graduate of Penn State University, attended Syracuse University, and worked for General Electric for 35 years as a physicist.
His wife of 56 years, Ernestine Maxey Dietz predeceased him in 2002. Ernestine was born in Myrtle, MS, and was a graduate of the University of Missouri.
Ernestine and James lived in Skaneateles for 25 years, were active members and volunteers of the Skaneateles Presbyterian Church, the Skaneateles Ski Club, the Lakeview Circle neighborhood where they lived, the Skaneateles Country Club 9 Hole Women’s league and the Skaneateles Schools. James and Ernestine moved to Pinehurst, NC, in 1990 and James moved to Durham, NC, in 2006.
James is survived by his four children; Alison (James) Kiesa of Marcellus, John (Carol) Dietz of Twinsburg, OH, Amy (David) Heider of Amity, OR, and Alex (Lee Ann) Dietz of Cary, NC. Nine grandchildren; Charles Kiesa, Abigail Kiesa, Daniel (Jessalyn) Kiesa, Matthew (Tanaz) Dietz, Julia Dietz, Jackie (Ben) Delaney, Grace Dietz, Georgia Dietz, and William Dietz.
A Memorial Service for James and Ernestine Dietz will be held at 12:30 p.m. on Sept. 1 at the Skaneateles Presbyterian Church. Private burial at Lakeview Cemetery.
