Elizabeth A. Sweezey

Elizabeth A. Sweezey, 95, formerly of 208 Hyland Drive, died Saturday, Aug. 3, 2013, at James Square in Syracuse. Elizabeth was a native of Sherburne, NY, and was the daughter of the late Arthur and Catherine (Newman) Dromgoole.
Elizabeth became a registered nurse at St. Elizabeth School of Nursing in Utica and her master’s degree in education from Syracuse University. She worked as a nurse for many years both in private duty and on staff at St. Joseph's Hospital. Elizabeth went on to teach elementary school for the Syracuse City School District before retiring. She enjoyed playing bridge and reading and was a communicant of St. Margaret's Church in Mattydale.
In addition to her parents, Elizabeth was predeceased by her husband, William B. Sweezey in 1984, four brothers: Bernard, Harold, Robert and William Dromgoole, and by her brothers-in-law, E.J. Howell and Gleason Judd.
Surviving are her three sisters: Dorothy Judd of Oneonta, Jane Jones of Ansonia, CT, and Mary Christine Howell of FL; a brother: John (Theresa) Dromgoole of Binghamton; over 20 nieces and nephews; and by two sisters-in-law: Josephine and Lorraine Dromgoole.
Calling hours: 10:30 a.m. -11:30 a.m. Thursday, Aug. 8, followed by a 11:30 a.m. prayer service at Krueger Funeral Home, 2619 Brewerton Rd., Mattydale. Mass of Christian burial: noon at St. Margaret's Church and burial will be in Assumption Cemetery, Syracuse. In lieu of flowers, donation in Elizabeth's memory may be made to St. Margaret's Angel Fund, 203 Roxboro Rd., Mattydale, NY 13211.
