George T. Failey III

George T. Failey III, 85, of Minoa, passed away peacefully July 24, 2013 at home surrounded by his family, following a long courageous battle with cancer. Born in Brooklyn, George was the son of the late George T. and Frances Failey. He moved to the Central New York area in 1942. Following his graduation from Fayetteville High School in 1946, he served in the Air Force, and then graduated from Cortland College in 1952.
George worked for Marine Midland Bank, Killian Manufacturing, Golddome and retired last year from Tops Markets in Fayetteville. He was a member of the Fremont Lions Club, an avid golfer and member of Arrowhead Golf Club and an avid bowler, playing on several leagues.
He is survived by his wife of 13-and-a-half years, Elizabeth; children, Janet (Richard) Schug of Liverpool, Lois (Mike) Groginski of Brewerton and Gregory (Patricia) Failey of Pompey; sister, Frances Dence of Boise, Idaho; seven granddaughters and a grandson; and several stepchildren, grandchildren, great-grandchildren and a great-great-grandson.
Calling hours: 4 to 7 p.m. Monday, July 29, at the R.H. Schepp & Son Minoa Chapel, 6530 Schepps Corners Road, Minoa. The funeral service and burial will be private.
