John C. “Jack” Whipple, 85, passed away suddenly April 26, 2013, in Savannah, GA. Jack was a lifelong resident of Jamesville until recently moving to Liverpool. He attended Jamesville High School and served in the occupied forces of the Army during WWII. He retired as a heavy equipment operator from Allied Chemical, Jamesville Quarry after 41 years. He was a lifelong communicant of St. Mary’s Church in Jamesville; a member of the Mattydale VFW No. 3146, East Syracuse American Legion #359, member of the 40 year club of Solvay Process and life member of the Jamesville Fire Department.
He is survived by his wife, Sharon “Sherry” Whipple; children, Scott A. (Elaine) Whipple of Jamesville, Michael (Robin) Whipple of Bridgeport, Eric Whipple of Canastota, Michelle (Graeme) Anderson of Canastota, Kelly (Joseph) Mussi of Cicero, Scott E. (Rosalie) Whipple of Fayetteville and Patrick (Sheryl) Whipple of Oneida; 17 beloved grandchildren, four great-grandchildren; and several cousins.
He was predeceased by his daughter, Sharon Henderson; son, John J. Whipple; grandson, Matthew J. Whipple, and great-granddaughter, Autumn Winchell.
Calling hours: 4 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, May 1, at Eaton-Tubbs Fayetteville Chapel, 7191 E. Genesee St., Fayetteville. Mass of Christian burial: 10 a.m. Thursday, May 2, at St. James Church, South Salina Street, Syracuse, with burial following in Jamesville-Walnut Grove Cemetery.
