Jerry A. Rivers

Jerry A. Rivers, 68, of North Syracuse, passed away Thursday, April 25, 2013, at Upstate Medical Center. He was a loving father and husband who lived for his family. He was also a great friend and could always make anyone laugh.
He was a Navy veteran serving during the Cuban Missile Crisis. He retired from the Syracuse Developmental Center where he was a chef and health care aid.
Jerry was a drummer and singer in many local bands, including Jet Lag and Fast Freight.
He was predeceased by his brother, Arthur G. Rivers, and his parents, Arthur G. and Pearl Brundage Rivers.
Surviving are his wife of 36 years, the former Patricia J. Stanton; two daughters, Jamie (Peter) Rivers Faes and Katherine Rivers; two sons, Jerry Rivers, Jr. and Randall Rivers; two stepsons, whom he loved as his own, Christopher (Emily) Chamberlain and Mark (Janie) Chamberlain; two sisters, Carol Holley and Susan Gallan; several grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
Services: 7 p.m. Monday, April 29, at Fergerson Funeral Home preceded by calling hours from 4 to 7 p.m. at the funeral home, 215 South Main Street, North Syracuse.
