Kenneth W. Allen, 49, of Syracuse, departed this life April 12, 2013. He was preceded in death by sister, Vivian Sullivan. He leaves to cherish his memory his father, Ardell O. Allen, Sr.; his mother, Melvin Bragg; a brother, Larry Houston; sisters: Deborah (George) Derayton, Glenda (Greg) Matthews, and Tammy (Todd) Washington; and other family and friends.
Kenneth served in the U.S. Army and U.S. Air Force completing over 31 years of military service and achieving the rank of technical sergeant. He served in Germany, Somalia and Haiti and earned three Army Achievement medals, an Air Force Achievement medal, two Air Force Commendation Medals, a National Defense Service Medal, a Global War on Terrorism Service Medal and numerous other awards and decorations. TSgt. Allen was assigned to the Eastern Air Defense Sector in Rome for the last 14 years. Kenneth was a dedicated fan of Syracuse University Sports and was a part time employee at the Carrier Dome. He was also an avid fan of the New York Yankees and Cleveland Browns. Ken enjoyed music and photography in his spare time.
