Leonard Antonio, 92, a lifelong resident of Syracuse, passed away peacefully with his family surrounding him on Saturday, April 14. Leonard was a US Marine Corps WWII veteran and was honorably discharged in 1944 due to injuries sustained in Guadalcanal. Leonard joined the Syracuse Police Department in 1951 and was employed with them until his retirement in 1983. He enjoyed spending time with his family and friends and he also enjoyed bowling and golfing. He was an avid Yankee fan as well. Besides being a police officer, he was also a TV and radio repairman. Leonard was a longtime communicant of St. John the Baptist Church and most recent years became a member of Holy Family Church.
He is survived by his loving wife of 68 years Grace (Rossi) Antonio and three children, Joseph Antonio, (Syracuse), MaryAnn (Steve) Lyon of (Caledonia, Ohio) and Annette (Daniel) Reed (Phoenix, NY). He has three grandchildren, Joseph (Carol) Russell, Jason (Kayla) Russell and Daniel Reed III. He also has five great grandchildren, Maria and Zachary Russell, Destiny Stott, Lindsey and Jacob Russell. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
Leonard was a wonderful husband, father, and grandfather and will be missed very much. We love you, Dad!

A Mass of Christian Burial: 10 a.m. Thursday, April 18, in Holy Family Church with burial in Onondaga County Veterans Cemetery. Calling hours: 4 to 7 p.m. Wednesday, April 17, at Whelan Bros. & Hulchanski Funeral Home, 5854 Belle Isle Road, Syracuse.
