Donald A. Coffey, 92, formerly of Orchard Park Drive West, died Monday, April 8, at James Square Nursing Home. Donald was a native of the Tipp Hill area in Syracuse and resided in North Syracuse for over 50 years. He was a graduate of St. Patrick's High School and was the son of the late James and Mary (Oley) Coffey.
Donald served during World War II in the South Pacific with the PT Boat Squadrons of the US Navy and received the Purple Heart. He retired in 1986 after 40 years as a meat cutter for P & C Foods and then worked for 20 years as a meat inspector for Topco Foods. Donald was a member of the American Legion in Cicero and a former member of Rogue's Roost Golf Club for many years. He was a communicant of St. Margaret's Church where he also served as an usher.
Donald was predeceased by his wife of 64 years, the former Jeanne Fish, in 2009.
Surviving are his two children: Suzanne M. of Baldwinsville, and Donald M. of Destin, FL; his two grandchildren: Matthew Coffey and Beth (Michael) Borowski; and by a great grandson, Jacob.

Calling hour: 9 to 9:30 a.m. at Krueger Funeral Home, 2619 Brewerton Rd., Mattydale. Prayers will begin at 9:30 a.m. followed by a 10 a.m. Mass of Christian Burial at St. Margaret's Church.
