Daniel Roger Dowell, 59, of Jordan, passed away surrounded by his loving family on Sept. 10, 2012, in James Square after a courageous battle with a rare blood disorder. Daniel was born Dec. 8, 1952, spent his life in Jordan, and graduated from Jordan-Elbridge High School in 1972. He served his country in the Army National Guard honorably for 29 years and was a self-employed mechanic. He loved cars and the camaraderie of his fellow guardsmen.
One of nine children born to the late Roger B. and Jean Ellen Cox Dowell of Jordan, he was the beloved brother to Peter D. Dowell, Timothy E. Dowell (Judy), late Richard P. Dowell, Patricia J. Chartrand (Christopher), late Rebecca L. Dowell, Martha E. Marshfield, Jennifer A. Salisbury (Paul), Ellen M. Sweet (Christopher), uncle to Dymnna Williamson (Brian), Julie Dowell, Christopher M. Chartrand, Jessica and Stephanie Salisbury, Sara Marshfield, Abigaile and Collin Sweet and great uncle to Vivian Williamson.
Services: 10 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 15, in the Bush Funeral Home 120 E. Main St., Elbridge with the Rev. Dr. Dana Horrell officiating. Burial will be in Maple Grove Cemetery. Calling hours: 4-7 p.m. Friday, Sept. 16, at the funeral home. Special thanks go to the staff at James Square Health & Rehabilitation Center who took special care of Dan.
