William D. Kortright
February 22, 1945 - August 31, 2012
William “Bill” D. Kortright, 67, a lifelong resident of Syracuse, passed away Friday, Aug. 31, 2012, at home after a long illness. Born in Syracuse on Thursday, Feb. 22, 1945, he was the son of Cornelius and Mary (Navin) Kortright. Bill was a graduate of St. Lucy’s. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army and was employed by Carrier Corp. retiring after 35 years. He enjoyed golf and fishing.
Bill was predeceased by his parents; and brothers, Francis and Patrick Kortright.
Surviving are his loving wife, the former Karen Sheehan; daughters and sons-in-law, Dawn and John Ifkovits of New Paltz and Katie and Steve Smorol of Syracuse; brother and sister-in-law, John and Linda Kortright of Solvay; four incredible grandchildren, Jack and Aidan Ifkovits and Ashlyn and Shauna Smorol; mother-in-law, Janet Sheehan of Syracuse; and many nieces, nephews and cousins.
Relatives and friends called from 4 to 7 p.m. Monday, Sept. 3, at the Buranich Funeral Home, 5431 W. Genesee St., Camillus. Services were at 9:30 a.m. Tuesday, Sept. 4, at the funeral home and 10:30 a.m. in St. Patrick's Church, 216 North Lowell, Ave., Syracuse, where Rev. John Fenlon officiated the Mass of Christian Burial. Bill was laid to rest in St. Francis Xavier Cemetery, Marcellus.
