Margaret L. Treat, 89, of Port Byron, died Thursday, Aug. 30, 2012, at home. Born in Elbridge, Margaret lived most of her life in the Brutus and Mentz areas.
She was formerly employed at Jo-Ann Fabrics in Auburn and Dorothy was an excellent seamstress. She was an avid gardener and she loved all animals especially horses. She was a former member of the Red Hats of Conquest.
Margaret was predeceased by her parents Charles and Dorothy Denman, her brother David, her husband Raymond Treat, son Roger Treat, and 2 sons in law Frank Gilmore and Tom Hewitt.
Surviving are three daughters Peggy Gilmore of Port Byron, Dorothy Hewitt of Locke, and Diane Smith of Port Byron, two sisters Joy Learo of Auburn and Dorothy Ming of CA., 13 grandchildren, 26 great-grandchildren four great-great-grandchildren, brother-in-law Ernest Treat of Auburn, good friend and former son in law Ray Weller of Jordan, several nieces and nephews.
Calling hours: 5-7 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 11, at the Bush Funeral Home 120 E. Main St. (Rt. 5) Elbridge with a service to follow at 7 p.m. Private burial will be in Greenlawn Memorial Park. Contributions may be made to the Port Byron Fire Dept. or to a favorite charity.
