Harley E. Rivers

Harley E. “Chick” Rivers, 86, of Liverpool, passed away peacefully at home Sept. 29, 2012, surrounded by his family. He was born in Syracuse to the late Kenneth and Pansy Rivers. He spent his youth in St. Regis Falls and the majority of his adult life in Camillus and Liverpool.
Harley was a WWII Navy veteran Seaman 1st Class, training at Sampson Naval Base and serving on the USS Mitchell and USS Ranger. Upon honorable discharge, he had a successful 40-year career as a repairman at General Electric, winning numerous awards for good merit. He was a proud member of the Camillus Herbert D. Rossberg VFW Post 8664, the Sampson WWII Veterans, and the National Rifle Association.
In his spare time, Harley was an avid hunter and fisherman, spending time with his friends and family at his camp as a member of the Pinnacle Rod and Gun Club. He always had a funny story to tell and his memory will always be with us. He is predeceased by his brother, Edward.
Harley is survived by his loving wife of 65 years, Helen (Himpler); his dedicated daughter, Karen, and son-in-law Don Kittleson; his four grandchildren Kathleen (Brad) MacDuff, Tom, Kim, and Ryan; his sister, Helen Hewitt and his beloved dog, Ruby.
Calling hours and services were held at B.L. Bush & Sons Funeral Home , 10 Genesee St., Camillus. Burial with military honors was in Maplewood Cemetery in Camillus.
