Julia “Judy” Gillman, 88, of Geddes, passed away Friday, Sept. 28, 2012, at St. Joseph’s Hospital Health Center. A lifetime resident of the Syracuse area, she was born on Wednesday, Oct. 24, 1923, and was the daughter of Louis Lisconish and Irene Patala Lisconish. She was a graduate of Solvay High School. She retired from Chappell's department store, after 19 years.
Judy was a lifetime member of Robinson Memorial Presbyterian Church and also belonged to the Western Hills and West Side senior groups. An avid SU basketball fan, she also enjoyed reading and loved spending time with family and friends.
Judy was predeceased by her husband, Luther, in 1988; son, W. "Skip" Gillman, in 1994; and brother, John Lisconish.
Surviving are her daughters and son-in-law, Carol Heimburg of Syracuse and Judi and Phil White of Clermont, Florida; sons and daughter-in-law, Paul of West Carrollton, Ohio and David and Mary of Delmar; Paul and Carol’s half-sister, Virginia Hickox of Painted Post; 10 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; close cousin, Katherine “Kate” Pisiak of Syracuse; several nieces, nephews and cousins; and a wide circle of friends.
Relatives and friends called from 4 to 7 p.m. Monday, Oct. 1 at the Buranich Funeral Home, 5431 W. Genesee St., Camillus. Funeral services were at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Oct. 2 at the funeral home with Rev. Tracie E. Martin officiating. Burial was at Woodlawn Cemetery, Syracuse. A memorial service followed at 1:30 p.m. in Robinson Memorial Presbyterian Church with Rev. Tracie E. Martin also officiating.
