Joan Freebern Coombs, 71, of North Carolina, passed away on Sept. 14, 2012, of complications of five years with ALS.
She was born in Cicero, moved to Brewerton and later Pulaski. She graduated from Central Square High School and worked for grocery stores in Pulaski and North Carolina.
She loved people but the disease took away her speech and ability to walk.
She was predeceased by her husband, Al Coombs, her parents, Maggie and Frank Freebern; by her brothers, Carlton, Francis and Edward Freebern.
Surviving are her daughter, Joal Morgan and grandson Jaxson Morgan of North Carolina; her daughter, Alexandria Cederberg of PA; her son, Wade (Jacklyn) Keyes and grandchildren, Kimberly, Kayla and Cameron Keyes of North Syracuse; her brother, Richard Freebern of East Syracuse and her sister, Elizabeth Boyke of Cicero.
Memorial services were held in North Carolina and in Pennsylvania. Burial in Allentown, will be with her husband, Al Coombs. She is now in heaven, free of pain, and will be missed by her family and friends.
