Pauline A. Hill

Pauline “Polly” A. Hill, of Grahamsville, passed away on Tuesday, Nov. 27, 2012, at home peacefully surrounded by her family. She was 83.
She was the daughter of the late Glen and Margerite Annable Thompson; born on March 17, 1929 in Marcellus.
She was a proud graduate of Marcellus High School class of 1946. She later obtained her bachelor’s degree in 1951 from NYS College for Teachers in Albany, NY. From 1951-1987 Polly taught English and Latin at Tri-Valley Central School. While she was at Tri-Valley she was head of the English Department, senior class advisor who attended several senior trips, directed numerous plays and was a cheerleading coach for a brief stint. For many that knew her she was known for being the author and creator of the column “Here and There” in the Townsman. She was the Secretary for the Grahamsville Rural Cemetery Association from 1987-2001. She was an active member of our community who has impacted many different lives; she will continue to be loved and will always be missed by her family and friends.
She is survived by her loving children David Hill and his wife Lisa of Virginia Beach, VA., Glenn Hill and his wife Sally of Grahamsville, NY., Susan Hill and Cheryl Martin of Orlando Beach, FL; grandchildren Aaron Hill of Annapolis, MD, Matthew Hill of Virginia Beach, Sarah Raco and her husband Joe of Red Hook,Rebekah Allen and her finance Jeremiah Licis of Rhinebeck; her sister, Joyce Williams of Kirkville, NY and many nieces, nephews and cousins.
She was predeceased by her devoted husband Donald H. Hill whom she married on August 17, 1957.
Visitation: 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Friday, Nov. 30, at Colonial Memorial Funeral Home, 396 State Route 52 Woodbourne, NY 12788. Funeral service: 10 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 1, at the Grahamsville Reformed Church, State Route 55, Grahamsville, NY. Interment will follow at the Grahamsville Rural Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations in Polly’s name can be made to Hospice of Orange & Sullivan Counties, 800 Stony Brook Court, Newburgh, NY.
