Rita Mahan Foster of Marcellus died Thursday, Nov. 22, 2012. Born July 4, 1919, to John and Ella Mahan, she was a graduate of Marcellus Central School and a communicant of St. Francis Xavier Church.
Rita was employed by the Marcellus Observer, Schrafft’s Restaurant, the Herald Journal, Marcellus Central School and Camillus Cutlery. During WWII she worked for the US Signal Corps at General Electric.
Rita was married to Glenn Foster. Predeceased by her parents, her sisters Ruth and Alice Mahan, her brother Lawrence Mahan and a son Stephen Foster.
Surviving are three daughters Peggy (Mike) Spader, Susan Foster and Linda (John) Tripp; one son Alan (Mary) Foster; nine grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; her brother Robert Mahan and family; many nieces and nephews.
Calling hours were 1 to 3p.m. Sunday, Nov. 25 at Ryan Funeral Home, Marcellus. Mass of Christian burial: 9 a.m. Monday, Nov. 26 in St. Francis Xavier Church, Marcellus. Burial was in St. Francis Xavier Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to St. Francis Xavier Church Parish Outreach, P.O. Box 177, Marcellus, NY 13108.
