Esther M. Solazzo, (Roberti) 91, of Liverpool, entered into rest on Thanksgiving Day, Thursday, Nov. 22, 2012, surrounded by her caring children. Esther was born Oct. 23, 1921 in Syracuse, the daughter of Vincenzo and Grace Roberti. Esther was a 1940 graduate of North High School. She worked at a local Linoleum Company as a secretary where she met her loving husband, John J. Solazzo.
On June 12, 1941 at Our Lady of Pompei Church, Esther and John became husband and wife. They shared 59 loving years together and raised 12 children. Esther was widowed by John in 2000. She was also predeceased by her brother, Frank Roberti who died in World War II, her sister, Grace Pilato in 2009 and her sister-in-law and dear friend, Rosalind Roberti.
Esther was a long time member of Pope John XXIII Roman Catholic Church in Liverpool. Esther worked at the Marine Midland Computer Center for many years before her retirement. She also volunteered as a Religious Education Teacher at Christ the King Church.
Esther is survived by her brother, Nathan (Karen) Roberti and her children, three sons, Robert (Jeanne), Gerald, John (Nancy) and nine daughters, Marie (Vernon) Schellenger, Kathy Reed, Audrey (Doug)Majors, Joyce Solazzo, Janice Botsford, Denise Gorzynski, Margaret (Richard)McDonnell, Elizabeth Solazzo, and Anne(Brad) Magro; 23 grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren, two step great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
Calling hours: from 2-5 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 25, at Maurer Funeral Home Moyers Corners 3541 State Highway 31 Baldwinsville. A prayer service will be held 9:15 a.m. Monday , November 26, 2012 at the funeral home followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 a.m. in Pope John XXIII Roman Catholic Church. The Rite of Committal and Burial will be in St. Peter’s Cemetery, Oswego. In lieu of flowers, expressions of sympathy may be directed in her memory to Pope John XXIII Roman Catholic Church, 8290 Soule Rd. Liverpool, NY 13090 or to the Alzheimer's Association.
