Elmer "Al" Chappell, 90, passed away Friday, Nov. 16, 2012, at his home. He resided in Mattydale for 20 years before moving to North Syracuse in 1976.
Al retired in 1987 after 24 years with Edlund Manufacturing, Fayetteville as a machinist. He was a communicant of St, Margaret's Church, volunteered on its bingo team. He was a caring soul who loved his family, country, nature and being in the woods. Years ago he was an avid hunter and craftsman in woodworking.
Al is survived by his loving wife of 12 years the former Helen Six , a daughter: Donna (Mel Kopp) Chappell of MD and a son: Gary (Donna) Chappell of Liverpool; two stepdaughters Cathy (Robert) Dembowski of North Syracuse, Maryanne (John) Fritzen of Liverpool; a sister: Aletha Holderman of CA; nine grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren ; several nieces and nephews.
Calling hours: 4 to 7 p.m. Monday, Nov. 19, at Krueger Funeral Home, 2619 Brewerton Road, Mattydale. Prayer service: 9:30 a.m. Tuesday, Nov. 20 at the funeral home followed by a mass of Christian burial at 10 a.m. at St. Margaret's Church. Burial will be in Assumption Cemetery, Syracuse.
