Steven W. Ganoung, Jr., 33, of Mattydale, passed away Sunday, May 20, 2012, unexpectedly. Steven was born in Saratoga Springs and grew up in North Syracuse. He graduated with honors from Christian Brothers Academy in 1996. Steven resided in Mattydale for the past 10 years.
He worked as a machine operator for Empire State Container for the past two years. Prior to that, Steven had worked in food service industry in the Syracuse area for 15 years as both a cook and manager. He was an amateur sketch artist and an avid fan of any Philadelphia sports team. Steven loved to collect comic books, action figures, and Star Wars memorabilia. He enjoyed his musical interests, camping with his family, and was a communicant of St. Rose of Lima Church in North Syracuse.
He leaves behind his wife of six years, the former Kelley (Moriarty); their two children, Bailey and Steven III, both at home; his parents, Steven and Carol (Hudson) Ganoung Sr. of North Syracuse; three siblings: Jessica Ganoung of North Syracuse, Amber (Daniel) Doney of East Syracuse, and one Joseph (Margaux) Ganoung of Minetto; as well as several nieces and nephews.
Calling hours: 4 to 8 p.m. Thursday, May 24, at Krueger Funeral Home, 2619 Brewerton Road, Mattydale. Prayer Services will begin on Friday morning, 9:15 am at the funeral home followed by a 10 am Mass of Christian Burial at St. Rose of Lima Church. Burial will be in North Syracuse Cemetery. Contributions in Steven's memory may be made to the family to offset the children's tuition expenses.
