Elwyn D. “Sonny” Wolfanger, 90, of Jordan, passed away unexpectedly Saturday, May 12, 2012, at University Hospital. Born in Naples, Sonny lived for the past 80 years in the Jordan area. He was a 1939 graduate of Jordan High School and was employed 30 years at New Process Gear before retiring in 1981.
Sonny was a well known stock driver at tracks in Weedsport and Waterloo. He was the owner of Wolfanger Custom Trailers for several years.
He was predeceased by his wife Myrtle, his parents Maurice and Bertha, 3 sons Jerry, Karl, and Donald Holdridge, brother Bud, and 2 sisters Alice and Lorraine.
Surviving are 3 sons Thomas (Sandra) Wolfanger of Weedsport, Larry (Violet) Wolfanger of Weedsport, and Philip Holdridge of Syracuse, 2 daughters Nancy (Jerry) Stapleton of Moravia and Judy Wilger of Phoenix, AZ, 2 sisters Marjorie Kenyon of Baldwinsville and Marilyn Wilson of Port Byron, several grandchildren and great grandchildren and a special friend Charlotte Morehouse.
Services: 10:30 a.m. Friday, May 18, at the Bush Funeral Home, Elbridge. Burial will be in Maple Grove Cemetery. Calling hours: 4-7 p.m. Thursday, May 17, at the funeral home 120 E. Main St. (Route 5) Elbridge. Contributions may be made to the Weedsport Ambulance Fund or the Jordan Ambulance Fund.
