Virginia Grace Goldsworthy, 91, went to be with her Lord at her daughter's home after a courageous battle with cancer on April 17, 2012. Virginia is predeceased by her parents William and Dora Whitney and her husband of 58 years, William Goldsworthy.
Virginia was born in Syracuse, New York on Jan. 11, 1921. She spent most of her life in Baldwinsville, where she raised seven children and worked for the Baldwinsville School District for 20 years as bus driver and assistant transportation supervisor. Upon retirement, she and her husband lived in Zephyrhills, Fla., until her move to Little River, S,C,, in 2009. Virginia was very active in her church in Florida and loved to read, do many kinds of crafts and needlework, and play games on her computer. She served as Commander of the DAV and was a lifelong member of the Moose Club.
Virginia is survived by her five daughters, Nancy (Dr. Alan) Hinkley of Hallstead, Pennsylvania and Little River, South Carolina, Sharon Markowski of Crossville, Tennessee, Bonnie (John) Denny, Virginia (Woodrow) Bullard, both of Baldwinsville, New York and Linda (Daniel) Rupert of Little River, South Carolina, and two sons William (Kathleen) Goldsworthy of Cazenovia, New York and Little River, South Carolina and James (Linda) Goldsworthy of Baldwinsville, New York. She is also survived by twenty two grandchildren, thirty eight great-grandchilddren and two great-great-grandchildren.
Memorial service: noon Saturday, May 12, at Gates Funeral Home 29 W. Genessee Street, Baldwinsville. Calling hours are two hours before the service. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the American Cancer Society, Mercy Care Hospice (8216 Devon Ct. Myrtle Beach, SC or First Presbyterian Church of Zephyrhills, Florida.
