Amalia “Amy” Grosso, 82, of Jamesville, passed away Sunday, April 22, 2012 at home. Born in Veroli, Italy, on Sunday, Oct. 6, 1929, she was the daughter of Ilarino Fiorini and Restiuta Manganti Fioroni. She was a lifetime resident of the Jamesville area.
Amalia retired from Loretto in 1999 after 23 years. She was a member of Local Union 200. An avid shopper, she also enjoyed cooking, gardening and spending time with her family.
Amalia was predeceased by her husband, Francisco "Frank," in 1995; sister, Yolanda DiPino; and brothers, Armando and Antonio Fioroni.
Surviving are her daughters and sons-in-law, Joanne and David VanSlyke of Jamesville, and Susan and Stephen Jansson of DeWitt; sons and daughters-in-law, Joseph and Linda Grosso of Jamesville, and Michael and Michelle Grosso of LaFayette; nine grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
Relatives and friends called from 4 to 8 p.m. Friday, April 27, at the Buranich Funeral Home, 5431 W. Genesee St., Camillus. Services were at 9 a.m. Saturday, April 28, at the funeral home and at 10 a.m. in St. Patrick's Church, St. Rt. 80, Otisco, where Rev. Dennis Hayes celebrated a funeral Mass. Amalia’s final resting place will be alongside her husband in St. Mary’s Cemetery, DeWitt. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Hospice of CNY, 990 Seventh North St., Liverpool, NY 13088.
