Willard A. Loomis III

Willard Amos Loomis III, born April 24, 1932 passed away peacefully at home on March 28, 2012, at the age of 79. Born in Syracuse, son of Dr. Willard A.Loomis Jr. and Frances McAuley Loomis, Willard grew up in Baldwinsville. He attended Central High School, Served in the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict and participated in Operation Castle Hydrogen Tests. Will graduated from University of Utah 1959. On March 29, 1957, he married his sweetheart, Irma Lynne Watts, in the LDS Salt Lake Temple. Willard had an outstanding 40-year career with Equitable Life Insurance Society.
He is survived by his wife Irma and five children: Tracey, Heather, William, Shawn and Jennifer, 15 grandchildren and 10 great-grand children.
Willard had a life-long love of fishing and fly tying. He enjoyed gardening, skateboarding, spending time with his family and playing with his grandchildren and their toys. He was devoted in love and service to The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. In his retirement Willard enjoyed writing his personal history “My Book” as well as restoring photos and working with the Williamstown and Halfshire Historical Societies.
Calling hours: 6 to 8 p.m. Friday, April 6, at Maurer Funeral Home, 300 Second St., Liverpool, NY 13088. Services: 11 a.m. Saturday, April 7, with calling hours from 10-11 a.m. at the Fayetteville Chapel, The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, 5070 North Eagle Village Road, Manlius. Burial will military honors will be in Riverside Cemetery, Altmar.
