Charles Edmund "Ed" Murphy, 90, of Camillus passed away Feb. 26, 2012, at St. Joseph’s Hospital. Born June 26, 1921, in Syracuse the son of Charles Davidson Murphy and Anna Louise Crockett, he attended Syracuse schools and Geneva College, in Beaver Falls, PA. He was a WWII veteran with the U.S. Army Air Corps and the 8th Air Force where he flew 34 missions with the 491st Bomber Group. He received his bachelor’s degree from Geneva College in 1943. In 1947 he married Natalie Rogers, his best friend. They raised four red-headed children; Patricia, Dexter, D'Arcy and Pamela in whom they are well pleased.
He spent his professional career as a senior project manager in structural steel and water treatment plants in Syracuse and Houston, TX. A long time member of Robinson Memorial Presbyterian Church, he was an elder and a deacon, and enjoyed performing with the Robinson Players. Ed was a devoted husband, father and grandfather. He was predeceased by his brother David Crockett Murphy and his daughter Patricia K. Murphy in 2008.
He is survived by his wife of 64 years Natalie; sons Dexter (Pearl) of Stonington, CT, D'Arcy of Daytona Beach, Fl; daughter Pamela (John) Carroll of Camillus; two grandsons Ryan and Brendan of Stonington, CT; a brother Robert Alan (Corinne) Murphy of White Plains; and several nieces and nephews.
Calling hours were held at the B.L. Bush & Sons Funeral Home, 10 Genesee (Main) St., Camillus. Services were March 2 at Robinson Memorial Presbyterian Church with Rev. Tracie Marton and Barbara Wilson officiating. Burial was in Onondaga Valley Cemetery, Syracuse. Donations may be made to Robinson Memorial Church, 126 Terry Road, Syracuse, NY 13219.
