Minnie Ruth “Madge” (Catteral) Longmuir, 95, of Camillus and St. Petersburg, FL passed away on Thursday, June 7, 2012. Born in Portsmouth, England, June 10, 1916, she was the last surviving of 12 siblings born to William Henry Catterall and Ethel Collins. She was predeceased by her husband, Edwin Longmuir, formerly of Bolton, England. They were married for 60 years. They left England in 1952, moved to Canada and immigrated to the US in 1953. They resided many years in Lyncourt, before moving to Camillus, and retired to St. Petersburg, FL. She retired in 1980 after 25 years at Syracuse China where she worked as a finisher. In retirement they enjoyed many activities including traveling, shuffleboard and belonged to the Harbor Lights Club Kazzoo Knocker band.
She is survived by her two children, Robert I. Longmuir of Baldwinsville and Jennifer A. Downey of Camillus; five grandchildren: Robert Longmuir, Jr. of Baldwinsville, Debra Longmuir of East Syracuse, Kenneth Downey of San Jose, CA, Kristine McCowan of Atlanta, GA, and Kathleen Downey of Camillus, NY; six great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren and several nieces in the UK, France and Australia.
