Marjorie L. Cook

Marjorie L. Cook, 90, of North Syracuse, passed away peacefully at home on Thursday, June 14, 2012. Born in Syracuse, she was employed by New York Telephone for 15 years as an operator, advancing to payroll clerk. After moving to North Syracuse in 1957, she devoted her time to raising her family and continuing to work part time. She was employed as a clerk in several local businesses retiring from Ritter's cleaners at the age of 78. She touched many lives with her compassion and sense of humor.
She loved the outdoors and nature. She was involved in Girl Scouts, chaperoning camping trips with her daughters' troops. She spent summers at the family cottage on Oneida Lake; swimming, fishing and hosting family gatherings. For many years, she was a member of North Syracuse Baptist Church.
Her husband, Harold, predeceased her on March 28, 1991.
Surviving are her daughters, Susan Cook of Mattydale and Barbara Quackenbush of Cicero; a grandson, Jason Quackenbush of Cicero; several nieces and nephews and her beloved cat, Rosie.
The family would like to thank special caregivers, Laurie M., Kandy L. and John H. for their exceptional attention and care of Marjorie.
Services: 5 p.m. Sunday, June 17, preceded by calling hours from 2 to 5 p.m. at Fergerson Funeral Home, 215 South Main Street, North Syracuse. Private burial will be in Lakeside Cemetery, Skaneateles. Donations may be made, in lieu of flowers, to Hospice of CNY, 990 Seventh North Street, Liverpool, NY 13088.
