Arthur Byron Morris III, 64, of Manlius, went to be with Jesus Christ, his Lord and Savior on Sunday, July 8, 2012. He was born in Aguadilla, Puerto Rico while his father was stationed in the Air Force, and spent most of his life living in the south. He graduated from Southern Technical Institute in Marietta, Georgia with a bachelor’s degree in industrial engineering Technology. He worked for Southern Bell for 20 years. While living in South Carolina, Arthur was an active volunteer with the American Red Cross, the United Way, the Veteran’s Administration Hospital, the Mental Health Association and the South Carolina Department of Mental Health.
Although his death was sudden and unexpected, he died doing what he loved to do. Arthur loved being outdoors, hiking, fishing, camping and experiencing nature. His greatest love was for his God, his family and his country.
Survivors: his wife of 17 years, Marcia A. Metz (McKee) Morris; a daughter Amanda Marie Morris of Atlanta GA; two step-sons, Stephen (Dianna) McKee of Delphi Falls, Thomas McKee Sr. of Apulia; two sisters, Janett Morris and Jackie McMahon both of FL; two nephews, Mark (Janet) McMahon and Matthew McMahon; an aunt, Mary Jane (Elliot) Stott; five step grandchildren, Thomas Jr., Megan, Sarah, Katie and Emily McKee.
Celebration of life service: 11 a.m., Saturday, July 28, at Pompey Community Church, 7555 Berwyn Road, LaFayette, NY 13084. Burial will be private in Atlanta. There are no calling hours. In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to the American Diabetes Association, or to your favorite charity. Arrangements are under the direction of Newell-Fay Manlius Chapel.
