John Fay, 78, of North Syracuse, died Friday, Jan. 13, 2012, at his home. John was a native of County Cavan, Ireland, and resided on Orchard Drive East in North Syracuse since 1964. He was the son of the late Patrick and Mary (Martin) Fay.
John retired in 1993 after 33 years as a mechanic with the Physical Plant at Syracuse University. He was a communicant of St. Margaret’s Church in Mattydale.
He was predeceased by an infant son and two grandsons, Bryan Barber and Shawn Adams.
Surviving are his wife of 51 years, Margaret (Smith); their six children: Mary Kathleen (Bill) Adams of Pompey, Rosaline (Chris) Spinella of Cicero, Eileen (Don) Bennett of North Syracuse, John (Collette) Fay of Brewerton, Margaret (John) Carter of Bridgeport, and Michael (Denise) Fay of Corinth, NY; a sister: Rosemarie McCabe of Dublin, Ireland; and his seventeen grandchildren.
Calling hours: 4-7 p.m. Monday, Jan. 16, at Krueger Funeral Home, 2619 Brewerton Rd., Mattydale. Prayer service: 9:30 a.m. Tuesday, Jan. 15, at the funeral home followed by a 10 a.m. Mass of Christian Burial in St. Margaret’s Church. Burial will be in North Syracuse Cemetery, North Syracuse.
