Hilaria Aliman LaValle, 72, of Syracuse, passed away unexpectedly Sunday, Feb. 19, 2012, at University Hospital. Her family was by her side. Born in Calbayog City, Western Samar, the Philippines, on Friday, Nov. 3, 1939, she was the daughter of Florencio Aliman and Escolastica Cajurao Aliman. She was a graduate of Christ the King College and attended the University of the Philippines. She was an enthusiastic and respected schoolteacher in the Philippines before coming to the U.S., where she resided in Syracuse since 1978.
Hilaria was a loving and giving wife and mother, who enjoyed gardening, singing and spending time with family. She was a valued secretary for Armstrong Mold Co., a communicant of St. Ann's Church, and attended Most Holy Rosary Church.
A trustworthy person and strong Christian who was always caring and helping others, Hilaria will live forever in the cherished memories of her husband of 33 years, James; her son, Paul; many family members across the globe; and countless close friends. She brought grace and joy and warmth to this world, and she will be missed by all.
Relatives and close friends called from 5 to 8 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 23, at the Buranich Funeral Home 5431 W. Genesee St., Camillus. Services were at 9 a.m. Friday, Feb. 24, at the funeral home and at 10 a.m. at St. Ann's Church where Rev. Brian Lang celebrated a funeral Mass. Hilaria was laid to rest at St. Mary's Cemetery, DeWitt.
