David W. Haynes, 63, of Liverpool, passed away Tuesday Feb. 14, 2012, at Upstate University Hospital after a courageous battle with cancer.
He was born in Fulton and had resided in Liverpool for 37 years. Mr. Haynes was a U.S. Marine Corps veteran, serving in Vietnam. He retired in 2002 as a Park Crew Leader after 30 years of employment for Onondaga County Parks, where he found his labor of love in the setting up and taking down of Lights on the Lake. David was an avid sports fan, rooting for his NY Yankees and NY Giants.
He was predeceased by his father Donald Haynes.
Surviving to cherish his memory are his wife of 37 years Judi A. (Gonella) Haynes of Liverpool, mother, Edna Haynes of Kirkville, sister Dawn (Art)
Middleton of Liverpool, 4 nephews, great nieces, a great nephew, sister-in-law and brother-in-law.
Calling hours: 4-7 p.m. Friday Feb. 17, at the Maurer Funeral Home, 300 Second St., Liverpool
Funeral services: 9:30 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 18, at the funeral home with burial to follow in Onondaga County Veterans Memorial Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Syracuse Rescue Mission or the Humane Association of CNY.
