Peter Mancini passed away peacefully Jan. 26, 2012 surrounded by the love of his family. Peter was born in Brooklyn, N.Y., a city whose energy and light he carried in his heart until his last days.
Peter graduated SUNY Utica/Rome in counseling, and, for the past 20 years, held a position as an addiction therapist at 410 Crouse and Commonwealth Place of Crouse Memorial Hospital, where he devoted his life to the recovery of those struggling with substance abuse. He was one of four children born to the late Peter and Elizabeth (Thompson) Mancini, and was the beloved husband of Susan Berry-Mancini for over 30 years.
Peter’s memory will forever be cherished by his children Elizabeth, Robyn and Kathleen Mancini. He is survived by his sister Barbara Santiago of Long Island, and predeceased by brothers Walter and Richard. Family members, countless friends, and colleagues were blessed to know his words of humble wisdom, his spontaneous love of life, the passion he found in his work, and his joy in being a husband and father. Peter loved adventure: hiking the mountains of the Adirondacks, kayaking through swirls of river water, trying new coffee in Brooklyn cafes, wandering the streets of Paris, soaking in sun on the beaches of Cape Cod.
The family wishes to express their heartfelt gratitude to the doctors, nurse practioner, nurses and staff on 10E of University Hospital. His laughter and warmth serves as a reminder to make every single day beautiful.
