Mildred (Ward) Beebe was born May 17, 1909 in Baldwinsville. She died Sunday, Jan. 29, 2012, at Syracuse Home Association in Baldwinsville.
She lived in Baldwinsville as a child and later her family moved to the Hamlet of Lysander, where she lived many years, eventually returning to Baldwinsville.
Mildred taught elementary school many years in Baldwinsville Central Schools. She was a member of the Baldwinsville First United Methodist Church.
Mildred was a Christian woman who served the Lord as a Sunday School teacher, church treasurer, president, most offices in United Methodist Women (Ladies Aid, WSCS), and a member of Sarah (Hanna) Circle. Mildred enjoyed many years at “camp” in Sandy Pond with family and friends.
She was predeceased by Leo in 1988.
Survivors: a daughters, Barbara Johnston of Syracuse; grandson Mark (Karen) Johnston of Syracuse; two great-grandchildren, Katelyn and Krista; extended family (who Mildred raised) Phyllis (Gates) (Tom) ElHage of Baldwinsville, and family Roderick (deceased) and Beverly Beebe and family of Parker, Colorado; many nieces and nephews (Ward and Beebe).
Memorial service: 2 p.m. Friday, Feb. 3, at the Baldwinsville First United Methodist Church Chapel, 17 W. Genesee Street, Baldwinsville. Calling hours: 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Friday at Gates Funeral Home, Inc., 29 W. Genesee Street, Baldwinsville. The family would like to thank the Syracuse Home for the loving care given to Mildred, a special thanks to Ellen Jennings for her caring way. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Baldwinsville First United Methodist Church or Baldwinsville Community Food Pantry both at 17 W Genesee Street, Baldwinsville, NY 13027.
