Sandra "Sandy" Simcuski, 68, of Park Rose Estates in Liverpool, died Wednesday, Dec. 26, 2012, at Crouse Hospital. Sandy grew up in Cicero and resided in North Syracuse for most of her life. She was a 1962 graduate of North Syracuse High and the daughter of the late Cornell and Eleanor (Schering) Simcuski.
Sandy received her teaching degree from SUNY Brockport and her master's degree from Syracuse University where she coached girls volleyball. She retired in 1999 after 30 years as a physical education teacher at Paul V. Moore High School in Central Square. She also coached various girls sports teams for the high school. Sandy was well respected by her peers and all of her students. She enjoyed her crafts especially creating custom doll houses and birdhouses. Sandy was a great lover of all animals and had many dogs as companions including her beloved Kali.
She was predeceased by her sister, Sharon Hoffman, in 2008.
Sandy is survived by her sister: Sue Simcuski of North Syracuse; two nephews: Michael (Robin) and Mark Hoffman all of Utah; a great-nephew, Tyler and a great-niece, Amber.

Calling hours: 2 to 5 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 30 at Krueger Funeral Home, 2619 Brewerton Road, Mattydale. Funeral services: 9 a.m. Monday, Dec. 31 at the funeral home followed by burial in Onondaga Valley Cemetery, Syracuse.
