Harold J. Kiah

Harold J. "Hal" Kiah, 86, of North Syracuse passed away at his home on Thursday, Dec. 27, 2012. He graduated from the University of Virginia and served from 1944 to 1954 in the U.S. Army.
In 1984, he retired from Crouse Hinds after 31 years of service and was treasurer of the Crouse Hinds retirees. He was a local real estate agent and for 21 years was "The Carousel Man" at Destiny.
Mr. Kiah was a communicant of St. Rose of Lima Church since 1955 where he was an usher and counter. He was president of the CNY Leukemia Society for ten years and served on the National Leukemia Society Board. He was a member of the Lamp Lighters Dance Club.
He was predeceased on March 4, 2002 by his wife of 47 years, the former Nancy E. Green.
Surviving are his children, Suzanne Kiah Kampney of Lexington, SC, Sharon Elizabeth Peckham, Mary Alice Kiah and Cindy Nowodworski, all of Syracuse and Daniel M. Peckham of Cato; seven grandchildren, Jason, Sean, Daniel J., Amy, Erin, Jaime and Rick; two great grandchildren, Logan and Gwyneth; two sisters, Jean Augliano of Watertown and Pauline Williams of Syracuse and several nieces and nephews.
He was a father, grandfather and friend to many more.
Services: 9:30 a.m. Monday, Dec. 31 at Fergerson Funeral Home and at 10 a.m. the Mass of Christian Burial is at St. Rose of Lima Church with entombment and the rite of committal following with military honors in St. Mary's Resurrection Chapel Mausoleum.
