Helen “LaRue” Anne Mullarney

Helen Anne (LaRue) Mullarney, 91, formerly of Middlebury Ave Massena, passed away early Sunday morning (Dec. 9, 2012). She was born July 2, 1921, in Massena, the daughter of Franklin and Mary (Carville) LaRue.
Helen graduated from Massena Central School in 1939 and went on to marry her high school sweetheart, L. Barry Mullarney, on Aug. 27, 1942, at the Church of the Sacred Heart. After working for several local businesses and raising her family, she worked for Massena Central Schools as a secretary in the nurse’s office.
Her husband, Barry, predeceased Helen on Jan. 29, 1999. She was also predeceased by her sisters, Elizabeth (Steffen), Ilene (Sutton) and brothers, Kenneth, Charles and Paul LaRue.
Helen is survived by her three sons: Patrick (Audrey) of Lebanon, CT; Michael (Susan) of Glenville, NY; and Thomas (Karen) of Baldwinsville, NY. She is also survived by her brothers: Philip of Green Cove Springs, FL; and John of Massena, NY; seven grandchildren Alison, Matthew, Kathryn, Angela, Timothy, Erin, Daniel; seven great-grandchildren; her nephew, Mark LaRue (Julie) of Baldwinsville, NY; and several other nieces and nephews.
Helen was a communicant of Sacred Heart Church. She also enjoyed listening to music, working crossword puzzles and attending family gatherings. Family and friends gathered at the Phillips Memorial Home, Massena, from 4 to 7 p.m. Friday evening (Dec. 14, 2012). A funeral Mass was held for Helen at 10 a.m. Saturday (Dec. 15, 2012), at the Church of the Sacred Heart with Rev. Donald J. Manfred presiding. Interment followed at Calvary Cemetery.
