Mary L. Pendergast

Mary L. Pendergast, 95, former Pennellville resident, passed away at Morningstar Residential Care Center in Oswego, on Saturday Dec. 15, 2012. Born in East Syracuse to the late Loretta (Bronner) and Joseph Stevens on Nov. 6, 1917, she was a graduate of Vocational High School in Syracuse, later becoming a co-owner of Pendergast Grocery Store in the Belgium hamlet, Clay, and later the Oneida River Tavern in Pennellville. Mary was predeceased by her loving husband of 72 years, Robert F. Pendergast on June 9, 2011. Surviving are her children, William R. (Judy) Pendergast of Pennellville, Barbara (Lloyd) Barbur of Richland, N.Y., Janet Loveless of Fulton, and Carole (Fred) Gaylord of Clay; 14 grandchildren; 27 great-grandchildren; three great-great grandchildren; several nieces and nephews. Calling hours: from 11 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. on Wednesday Dec. 19, at the Allanson-Glanville-Tappan Funeral Home, 431 Main St., Phoenix, NY 13135. The funeral service will follow at 1:40 p.m. with the Rev. Diane Bradshaw officiating.
