Ellen P. (Mather) Pizzuto, 89, of Liverpool, passed away peacefully on Monday, Dec. 17, 2012, with her family by her side. A life resident of the Syracuse area, Ellen was the secretary for Pizzuto Plumbing & Heating for more than 50 years, a business which she ran with her husband out of their home. She was also a homemaker and took great pride in raising her four children. Ellen was a communicant of St. Joseph the Worker Church in Liverpool. She was an avid Syracuse University basketball fan and also enjoyed traveling to Florida, canning fruits and vegetables and watching the Lawrence Welk show. Ellen is predeceased by her loving husband of 57 years, Antonio, in 2004.
Surviving to cherish her memory are her children, Joseph (Linda) Pizzuto; Joanne (Robert) Corning; Anthony (Sandy) Pizzuto; Ralph (Janice) Pizzuto; her brother, Martin (Mary Jane) Mather; her sister, Jane Gilheney; grandchildren, Carmen (Elizabeth) Pizzuto; Lindsay Pizzuto; Meaghan Corning; Nicole Pizzuto; Antonio Pizzuto; Danielle (Shawn) Darrow; two great-granddaughters, Kathleen & Molly Pizzuto; and many nieces and nephews.
Funeral services: 9:15 a.m. Friday, Dec. 21 at the Maurer Funeral Home and 10 a.m. in St. Joseph the Worker Church, with a mass of Christian burial celebrated with rite of committal and burial following in Onondaga County Veterans Memorial Cemetery. Calling hours: from 4 to 7 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 20 at the funeral home, 300 Second St., Liverpool. The family would like to extend a thank you to Sue M., Rachel, Sue H., Marsha, Kathy and Lydia for all of their help and excellent care of Ellen, and especially to Kelly for going above and beyond her duties to help. In lieu of flowers, contributions in Ellen’s memory may be made to St. Joseph the Worker Food Pantry, 1001 Tulip St., Liverpool, NY 13088.
