Helen J. Marnell

Helen J. Marnell, 85, formerly of the Sacred Heart Apartments, Cicero, passed away Saturday, Dec. 8, 2012, in Syracuse. She was born in Syracuse, the daughter of the late William and Elizabeth Hoppe Blank, and graduated in 1944 from North Syracuse High School.
Mrs. Marnell was a legal secretary and also worked for the North Syracuse Central School Board of Education. She a member of various Cicero senior groups including CLOCKS and Young at Heart Seniors and was a life-long communicant of Sacred Heart Church. She loved going on the annual Atlantic City bus trip and vacationing with her family in the Carolinas. Mrs. Marnell was a voracious reader and enthusiastic SU sports fan.
In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her husband, Joseph, on June 24, 1989 and by her sisters, Ruth Mirra and Arlene Lamitie.
Surviving are her daughter, Marie E. "Marni" Marnell and son-in-law, Frederick A. Mohr; her son, Dana K. Marnell and daughter-in-law, Debra Perry; two grandsons, Alexander J. Mohr and Christopher M. Mohr; a sister, Marion Herrmann and numerous nieces and nephews.
Mass of Christian burial: 10 a.m. Monday, Dec. 17 at Sacred Heart Church of Cicero, with the Rite of Committal following in North Syracuse Cemetery.
