George Clemanso Marks, 94, of Fayetteville, passed away Thursday, Nov. 29, 2012, in the V. A. Medical Center. Born in Farmingdale, L.I., George lived in Fayetteville for the past 61 years.
He was a disabled Navy veteran of WWII. He attended five colleges including the medical college at Syracuse University. George was a district manager for Baxter Co. and later American Hospital Supply Co. serving the East Coast area. He also owned and managed apartment houses in the University area and as well throughout the city. George was a member of the Fayetteville United Methodist Church. He was a long time member of the Fayetteville-Central City Lodge 305 F&AM, Central City Bodies of the Scottish Rite, and the Tigris Shrine.
He was predeceased by a son, Gerald, in 1988. His loving wife of 57 years, Elizabeth Keefer, Marks died in 2004.
Surviving are two sons, Philip D. Marks and Stephen R. Marks, a daughter, Dorothy M. Brown, a brother, Alfred Marks, several grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Graveside services will be May 21, 2013 in Oakwood Morningside Cemetery. Contributions may be made to Fayetteville United Methodist Church. “The world has lost a generous, kind and gentle soul.”
