Floyd Slocum, 87, of Fairmount, went to be with his Lord Nov. 29, 2012, after a brief illness at University Hospital. Born in Syracuse, he was a lifetime resident. He graduated from Eastwood High School and Atlantic Union College. He retired from Syracuse University where he was a dispatcher. Floyd was Toast Master at the Senior Citizen’s Corinthian Club. He was an avid stamp collector.
Floyd is survived by his wife of thirty six years Ann (Liggett) Slocum, two children from a previous marriage, a daughter Rebecca Conable of Manlius and one son Ronald Slocum of New Hampshire, several grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
Mass of Christian Burial: 10 a.m. Tuesday, Dec. 4 in Holy Family Church with burial in St. Mary’s Cemetery in Dewitt. Calling hours: 3 to 6 p.m. Monday, Dec. 3 at Whelan Bros. & Hulchanski Funeral Home. Contributions may be made in Floyd’s name to Holy Family Church Food Pantry, 127 Chapel Drive, Syracuse, N.Y., 13219.
