Stephen Wanuga, 82, of Liverpool passed away on Sunday, Aug. 26, 2012, following a long illness. He was born in Dickson City, PA, and served in the U.S. Navy during the Korean War. He received his bachelor’s degree from the Pennsylvania State University and his master’s degree from Syracuse University. Steve was employed by General Electric for 38 years in the Electronics Laboratory as a research engineer, where he obtained many patents. He was a Fellow in the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers and served as Editor-In-Chief of their publication “Transactions on Sonics and Ultrasonics” for 15 years. He was a member and elder of Northminster Presbyterian Church.
Steve is survived by his wife of 55 years, Jean, and his sons, Thomas of Waltham, MA, David of Hurleyville, N.Y., Paul and his wife Christine of Pelham Manor, N.Y., and two grandsons, Tyler and Cameron. He is also survived by his sisters, Olga Bednarek of Dickson City, Pa., and Elizabeth Generotti of Clarks Summit, Pa. Memorial service: 11 a.m. Friday, Aug. 31, in Northminster Presbyterian Church, 7444 Buckley Road, North Syracuse, NY 13212. A private burial will be held in the Liverpool Village Cemetery.
