Eleanor Marsh Hillers, 80, of Fayetteville, passed away suddenly on Wednesday, Aug. 29, 2012, surrounded by love. Born in Wilmington, Del., she graduated from Friends School and Wells College, magna cum laude. Ellie worked as a biochemist for Bristol Laboratories and is named on the Tetracycline patent. A member of Christ Episcopal Church in Manlius, she was a member of the choir, bell ringers, painted ornaments and served on the vestry. She was a consultant for many years to the National Episcopal Church. Eleanor was a member of the Cavalry Club, Syracuse Chorale and the Onondaga Garden Club.
She was predeceased by her parents, Henry and Mary Hunter Marsh and brother, Henry Marsh.
She is survived by her husband of 58 years, Robert S. Hillers; children, Hunter (Austin George) Hillers of Manlius, Robert B. (Colleen) Hillers of DeWitt, Ellen (Philip Patterson) Hillers of Durango, CO and Kimberle S.H. (Eric) Cowley of Charlton, N.Y.; sister, Jane (Dick Rosenbaum) Dieckmann of Ithaca; and grandchildren, Rachael Ristau, August George, Joshua and James Hillers, Nika, Kyla and Lana Patterson, Hannah and Oliver Cowley.
Memorial service: 11 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 1, at Christ Episcopal Church, 407 East Seneca St., Manlius. Calling hours: 3 to 6 p.m. Friday, Aug. 31, at the Newell-Fay Manlius Chapel, 8171 Cazenovia Road, Manlius.
