Daniel E. Pike

Daniel E. Pike, 78, of North Syracuse, passed Saturday, July 28, 2012, at Iroquois Nursing Home. He was born in Brewerton, the son of the late Earl and Helen Goettel Pike. He grew up on Hamilton Road, North Syracuse and graduated in 1953 from North Syracuse High School. From 1953 to 1956 he served in the U.S. Marine Corps and was a member of the Marine Corps League and American Legion Post 787, Cicero.
For over 39 years, he was employed by New York Telephone, retiring in 1996. He was a communicant of St. Rose of Lima Church, an Onondaga Senior softball league player/manager until 2012 and an avid Yankees fan. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, his camp on Oneida Lake and his feline companions, Chico and Sooty.
He was predeceased by his wife of 42 years, the former Regina "Jean" Wituszynski, on December 4, 2007; his son, Daniel E. Jr. on November 3, 1972; two sisters, Doris and Rosemary and a brother, William.
Surviving are his daughter, Tracey A. Pike of Liverpool; a grandson, Aidan; two brothers, Donald (Marie) Pike and Richard (Joanne) Pike; a sister, Rita Westfall and several nieces and nephews.
Services: 9:30 a.m. Thursday, Aug. 2 at Fergerson Funeral Home with Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. at St. Rose of Lima Church. Burial with military honors will follow in North Syracuse Cemetery.
