Grace Misterka Smith, 90, of Memphis, died Tuesday Sept. 27, 2010, at the Francis House. Born in Solvay, she was the daughter of Sebastino and Domenica Romano Nicotra. Grace lived most of her life in the town of Van Buren and she attended a one-room school house in the Kingdom area and later Jordan High School. She and her late husband Walter Misterka owned and operated a dairy farm. Later she worked at Pass and Seymour and following retirement, Grace enjoyed berry picking at Manley’s and Hencle’s Berry Patch.
She was a communicant of St. Patrick’s Church, Jordan. Grace crocheted over 400 prayer shawls.
She was predeceased by husbands Walter Misterka and Kermit Smith and two children Theodore Misterka and Frances Demperio.
Surviving are two grandchildren Vincent (Carol) Demperio of Eagleville, PA and Trisha (Steve) St. Germain of E. Syracuse, three great-grandchildren, son-in-law David Demperio of Memphis, and members of the Kermit Smith family.
A mass of Christian burial: 10 a.m. Monday Oct. 3 in St. Patrick’s Church. Burial will be in Maple Grove Cemetery. Calling hoursL: 1-4 p.m. Sunday Oct. 2 at the Bush Funeral Home 120 E. Main St. (Route 5) Elbridge.
