John J. Sherlock, Jr., 53, of Langhorne, PA passed away suddenly on Friday, Oct. 21, 2011. Born in Syracuse, John had a life-long love of family, friends, and Hudson automobiles. He graduated from Bishop Ludden High School and SUNY Oswego, and earned his master’s degree at Rochester Institute of Technology. The design editor at the Philadelphia Daily News for 19 years, John was a member of the launch team for USA Today, and former art director of Design magazine and regional director of Society for News Design. John was a Hudson enthusiast for many years, and was an Eastern Region director of the Hudson-Essex-Terraplane Club. He loved historic architecture, cooking, horticulture, and travel.
John was predeceased by his father, John J. Sherlock, Sr., in August 2011. He is survived by his wife of 28 years, Karen (Perrella); sons Zachary and Austin; mother, Regina Sherlock; sisters Kathleen Sherlock of Marcellus, Kelly (Peter) Rinaldi of N. Syracuse, Kara (Robert) Greene of Clay, Kristine Sherlock of Manlius and Julie (Michael) Fishman of Pompey; and eight nieces and nephews.
Services: 10:30 a.m. Friday, Oct. 28, at St. Joseph’s Church, 5600 West Genesee St., Camillus, NY. Calling hours: 4-7 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 27, at Whelan Bros. & Hulchanski Funeral Home, 5854 Belle Isle Road, Syracuse, NY 13209; Burial will be in Garland Cemetery, in Clarkson, NY.
