Richard Harry Oley, 96, of Split Rock, died Wednesday, Oct. 12, 2011, at St. Camillus, Syracuse, after a brief illness. Born in Split Rock, Harry was a life resident of the area. He worked 25 years for Chrysler, retiring in 1977. Harry was a communicant of The Church of St. Michael & St. Peter, Onondaga Hill. He was an Army veteran of WWII and a past commander and member of the Marietta VFW. Harry enjoyed traveling with his family.
He was predeceased by his wife of 35 years Ardean in 1988, his daughter Helen Wilmot in 2001 and two brothers Thomas and Robert.
Surviving are two nieces Pam (Bruce) Conley of NJ and Joyce (Larry) Mahoney of Canandaigua; children Elmer Schwendy of FL and Shirley Kalamas of Boonville; many grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.
Calling hours were 4 to 7 p.m. Friday, Oct. 14 at Ryan Funeral Home, 44 E. Main St., Marcellus. The Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated 10am, October 15th in The Church of St. Michael & St. Peter, Onondaga Hill. Burial was at St. Mary’s Cemetery, Dewitt.
