Thomas Sunheimer, 84, of Liverpool, passed away on Friday Sept. 30, 2011, at Crouse Hospital. Thomas was a U.S. Navy veteran of WWII serving proudly on the USS Los Angeles in the Pacific Theater. In 1971, Thomas ran for Salina Town Councilman. He was a member of the Liverpool Fire Department for over 25 years and was one of the founding members of Station 3. He also was the first coronary paramedic in Liverpool, as well as a NAVAC volunteer Red Cross instructor. Thomas was a retired employee of Allied Chemical with over 35 years of service. He was an umpire for Liverpool Little League and was an excellent handyman who especially enjoyed working in his shed and workshop.
Tom is survived by his loving wife of 64 years, Virginia, of Liverpool; son, Robert (Bonny) of Syracuse; daughters, Sandy (David) Scott of Fern Park, FL; Denise Sadonis of Liverpool; Janice (Doug) Ross of Liverpool; his sister, Thelma Emert of Hannibal; beloved grandchildren; Robin, Kevin, Kristin, Mark, Lindsey, Brian, Mike, Kelly, Tyler; great-grandchildren, Connor, Sarah, Brayden; and several nieces and nephews.
A calling hour: from 10 to 11 a.m. Thursday Oct. 6 at the Maurer Funeral Home, 300 Second St., Liverpool. Funeral services will follow at 11 a.m. Contributions in Tom’s memory may be made to the Liverpool Fire Department, 1110 Oswego St., Liverpool, NY 13088.
