unknown - November 12, 2011
Mary E. Scholefield, 51, of Rathbun Road, Cazenovia passed away Nov. 12, 2011, at her home with family by her side. Born in Astoria, N.Y., she was a resident of the New Woodstock and Cazenovia area the past six years. While in New Woodstock she owned and operated the Hut on the Hill sheep farm, a lifelong dream for her and her husband. Mary was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force.
Surviving are her husband of 24 years, Jim Scholefield, a daughter, Chrisa Best of Dandridge TN., her parents, Katherine and Joseph Letoski of Cocoa, FL., a sister, Veronica Dogru of Cocoa, FL., a nephew, Nicholas Letoski of Utica, and three grandchildren, Dillon, Jordan and Lacey. Mary leaves behind a beautiful legacy of love, courage, strength, earth stewardship, animal husbandry and inspiration for so many that knew her. This quote captures her spirit. “Do not go where the path may lead; go instead where there is no path and leave a trail.” -Ralph Waldo Emerson-. So many lives have been enhanced by her existence as we followed that trail behind her, especially the four-legged ones… Mary, we miss you and are grateful you helped change us and the world to be a better place. Your loving family and friends.
Burial was in the Scholefield Family Cemetery in Cazenovia. Ayer & Zimmer Funeral Home, Cazenovia were in charge of arrangements.
