John Joseph (Jack) O’Hara of Sun City, AZ, passed away Nov. 2, 2011, at the age of 87. He was born in Sennett, N.Y., one of six children to John and Lillian O’Hara. He moved to Arizona in 1994 from the home he built on Sunview Dr. in Elbridge after a 29-year career at Lawrence Gray Construction. Jack was a WWII D-Day veteran in the US Army and was a Purple Heart recipient. He was also a member of The American Legion and VFW Post 00102.
Jack is survived by his loving wife of 63 years Isabelle (Sue), four sons and daughters-in-law, John and Kathleen of River Vale, NJ, Michael and Betsy of Peoria, AZ, Joseph and Kelly of Skaneateles, NY, Thomas and Lara O’Hara of Glendale, AZ., and special nephew Kevin Keenan of Houston, TX. He had seven grandchildren Ryan (Meghan), Katie, Erin (Alan Carroll), Mikey, Jennifer (Jack Bullard), Lindsey, Amelia and 1 great-grandson, Jack. Jack is also survived by his three brothers and one sister, James (Betty) of Northfield, NJ, Donald and Richard (Cindy) O’Hara of Skaneateles Falls, Anne Govern of Sun City, AZ, brother-in-law Frank Curry of Sun City and sister-in-law Elizabeth Alamo of Waverly, N.Y. He also had many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends who were dear to him.
He was predeceased by sister Catherine Curry of Sun City. Jack and Sue were long time parishioners of St. Patricks Church in Jordan, NY and more recently of St. Elizabeth Seton in Sun City. Jack loved being with Sue and their family and friends, playing cards, bowling, golfing and pitching horseshoes. Everyone who knew him will remember him for his generosity, kindness and quick wit.
Services are private, with final burial at a future date in St. Marys of the Lake Cemetery in Skaneateles, NY.
