Steven E. Alexander, 62, of Cape Vincent, passed away Friday, Nov. 4, 2011, at his home. A native of Syracuse and 1967 graduate of LaFayette High School, he had lived in Canastota for 21 years before moving to Cape Vincent five years ago.
Steve retired in October as a self employed master carpenter and residential contractor, most recently serving as assistant project manager for Jefferson Rehabilitation Center. An avid outdoorsman, he enjoyed hunting and fishing. He was predeceased by his father, Elmer Alexander, in 1976
Surviving are his wife of 35 years, the former Patty Roche; his mother, Marie Aitken Alexander; four children, Michelle Fitzpatrick, James Alexander, Colleen Alexander and Marissa (Eric) Karney; seven grandchildren, Tonya, Joshua, Forest, Alex, Joe, Maddy Rose and Kati; a great granddaughter, Madison Grace; two sisters, Donna (George) Cookson and Sally (John) Case; several nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews and his faithful companion, Ozzy.
Services: 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, Nov. 8, at Fergerson Funeral Home, 215 South Main Street, North Syracuse. Calling hours: 4 to 7 p.m. Monday, Nov. 7, at the funeral home.
